Spring Statement 2018

The chancellor of the exchequer has delivered his first Spring Statement with a section on housing.

There is a £100m grant from the Land Remediation fund which will contribute toward an aim of 215,000 new homes by 2030-2031, in a deal with the West Midlands.

London will receive an additional £1.67bn in funding for the 27,000 affordable homes aimed to be built by the end of 2021-2022.

The £4.1bn Housing Infrastructure Fund has received interest from over forty authorities, who are preparing their bids with assistance from the government.

The statement also refers to an estimation of 60,000 first-time buyers with exempted stamp duty for homes to the value of £300,000.
